Courtney McKim and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be available on July 16th at 12:01 AM. Unless you are one of the lucky skanks who stumbled across a blind, deaf and stupid bookseller and got an advance copy. This release date means different things to different time zones. For me, it means about 31 hours until I get my hands on a copy.

Anyway, anyone who cares about Harry Potter (and if you don't, stop reading this blog, because I'm really just recording notes on my obsession) knows that everything related to this book is a closely guarded secret. However, I am going to post the snippets of info that I do know. Just because I want to. And I hate my job.

- it is shorter than Order of the Phoenix (less than 38 chapters)- it has 672 pages
- characters die
- the book starts with Harry at the Dursleys during the summer, waiting for Dumbledore to visit him there
- there's a new character who is described as looking like 'an old lion'
- Chapter 2 is called Spinners End
- Chapter 6 is called Draco's Detour
- Chapter 14 is called Felix Felicis
- according to one of the two men in Indianapolis who got the book early, Chapter 18 is called Birthday Suprises, and the book is fast-paced and shocking.
- Luna and Neville aren't getting together, but Harry will have some romance
- there's going to be a new minister of Magic. And Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. And Gryffindor Quidditch Captain.
- Sylum Mastropaolo bought a copy of the book early in NYC and read two pages. Sylum Mastropaolo sounds like he belongs in the book, not reading it. He also is a much nobler person than I am. I think he is nine.
- there are important clues about the plot on the book's cover
- I absolutely cannot wait!

Yes, I am a geek.

if you're a geek, I'm a geek, cause reading that made me hella excited.

I'm sad it's shorter.

of course characters die. but they've already killed off one of my favorites...how much more can they shock me?

I'm really hoping she doesn't throw a curveball in like having Percy be the Minister of Magic. if this is somehow actually the case, I will throw a fit and refuse to finish the book. of course, that will last for PERHAPS 20 minutes, when I will pick up the book and resume my reading.

the names of the chapters really give me nothing. they're so ambiguous.

I should hope they didn't keep Umbridge as the DADA teacher. shudder at the thought.

and I miss you, my fellow Harry Potter freak.

you NEED to come back to having the internet so we can discuss these happenings of MONSTROUS PROPORTIONS. the last 4 chapters made me bawl like a baby. I mean, I cried when Cedric was killed, but it was NOTHING compared to this. I went through 9 tissues. yes, I know you're on vacation, blah blah blah but you NEED TO RETURN SO WE CAN POST-MORTEM THIS BOOK.

I can't tell if I enjoy this turn of events. I think I need a re-read to fully comprehend what I've just read.

this woman is CRAZY. but hey...she surprised me. guess that's her job, right?
